A proper grasp of the Chinese language and pronunciations will be established through reading illustrated short stories and children's poems. Students will also accumulate basic vocabulary and grammar knowledge through pictures, questions and learning common sentence patterns. The goal is to help students enjoy learning Chinese and achieve the sense of accomplishment through reading without help.

Following the requirements of general Chinese education for elementary and middle school in East China, students will gradually read and study articles of different genres to train their ability to understand words and sentences and accurately grasp the main content along with the central ideas of the article. Students will learn the habits and stylistic structure of standardized language expressions. 

In more advanced classes, students are guided to observe and think about the environment around them, sort out writing ideas, establish a perspective on language expression to develop a writing style that can vividly describe people, narratives, scenes and emotions.
