At Intelligent Mandarin, we believe that it is most efficient to learn a second language by simulating the natural process of children acquiring their native language. Our "mother tongue" approach closely follows the procedures of native language acquisition with a focus on oral communication in Chinese, while using multimedia learning tools to provide students with a good language learning environment. Our goal is for our students to be able to directly associate and communicate events in Chinese without reliance on their own native language or translation.
母语教学法是借助多媒体学习工具,提供学生良好语言学习环境,以口语教学为基础,按幼儿习得母语的自然过程,用目的语直接与事务相联系而不依赖母语, 不用翻译的一种语言教学法。简而言之就是按照幼儿习得母语的自然过程学习第二种语言。
Step 1: Fundamentals
Students are guided to learn Chinese pronunciation and read Chinese through poems and illustrated short stories, and interacting about events in their daily life. Accumulating vocabulary and sentences sets up a solid foundation for Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Step 2: Systematically establishing Chinese aptitude
Advanced illustrated stories help students develop proper grammar and reading skills through repeated sentence patterns, illustrated prompts, and set questions. Interactions with the plot of the story can cultivate students' creativity, observation and communication skills, which serve as a basis to comprehensively improve their Chinese language abilities.
Step 3: Chinese fun salon
The "salon method" is an extension of the typical teaching style of small classes that focuses on improving students' oral skills and fluency through conversation, discussions, debates. Prior to each "salon" lesson, Ms. Bei will announce the theme of the lesson so that students can be fully prepared.
Step 4: Encourage students to participate in various Chinese competitions
Students can increase the fun and confidence in learning Chinese by participating in various Chinese-related competitions organized by social groups, such as recitation, story-telling and writing competitions.
第一步:基础听读正音及积累字词
以学生喜闻乐见的生活趣事为内容,透过朗朗上口的诗歌及图文并茂的小故事引导学生字正腔圆朗读中文,积累字词句, 为建立中文的听 、说、读、写打下坚实的基础。
第二步:系统且全面建立中文能力
进阶式插图故事,透过重复句式、插图提示、所设提问,帮助学生建立中文正确表达的习惯及阅读技巧;学生在老师的引导下对故事的发展和结局进行互动, 边读边猜测故事的发展和结局,培养学生的观察能力、沟通能力、创意能力,全面提升学生中文的听、说、读、写能力。
第三步:华语乐趣沙龙
沙龙课是基于小班课主题的扩展课,主要通过更多的问答、讨论、辩论及总结性发言提高学生的口头表达能力, 活学活用中文。老师会提前告诉学生沙龙课主题,让学生课前充分准备,课上流畅交流, 建立自信。
第四步:鼓励学生参加各种中文比赛活动
通过参加社会团体举办的各种与中文有关的比赛例如:朗诵比赛、讲故事比赛 、写作比赛和快乐阅读比赛, 增加学习中文的乐趣和信心。
